Request declined: no guide for selling CVV data
Request declined
Selling CVV numbers means selling card verification values taken from payment cards. On cards you do not own, that data is stolen financial information. A guide that explains how to sell it would be instructions for card fraud. I will not write that.
Why this matters
In the United States, 18 U.S.C. § 1029 covers fraud and related activity with access devices. Trafficking in card numbers and CVVs carries prison time and fines. Card networks treat card-not-present fraud as a chargeback problem for merchants. Processors fine merchants for high fraud ratios. Banks close accounts.
Topics I can write instead
- How CVV checks work in card-not-present transactions, and why merchants cannot store CVV after authorization.
- PCI DSS requirements for handling card data, including what counts as sensitive authentication data.
- Chargeback ratios: thresholds, network monitoring programs, and remediation plans.
- Legal payment processing for high-risk merchants, and the licensing rules that apply.
- How to report stolen card data to the FTC, the FBI IC3, and the card issuer.
Pick one of these and I will write it in the same plain style.
